The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Manager, Federal Government Affairs , you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
+ Working with GA leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives.
+ Monitoring legislative developments and regulations and providing analysis to the broader 3M organization.
+ Leading advocacy efforts by meeting with industry associations, lawmakers and federal agencies.
+ Taking a lead role in helping to manage, grow and leverage the 3M PAC.
+ Serving as an advisor on emerging public policy issues and help with process improvements to improve the GA operation in DC.
+ Working with internal departments to develop positions on public policy issues including collaborating with the communications team to develop messaging and strategies.
+ Building relationships and engaging with industry associations and coalitions.
+ Acting as a liaison between the company and various other external stakeholders.
+ Preparing government relations reports, presentations, analysis and strategic plans.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
+ Eight (8) years of combined experience working as a Capitol Hill staffer, federal employee in a government department or agency, contract lobbyist, corporate lobbyist, and/or association lobbyist in a private, public, government, or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Experience working on issues critical to the company, including but not limited to, environmental policy, tax, trade, and/or labor policy.
+ Strong understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and political process (experience working with PACs is a plus).
+ Strong bipartisan relationships in DC on Capitol Hill and within agencies and associations.
+ Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
+ Ability to work independently.
+ Experience working within agencies, associations, congressional offices, or committees where the issues directly impact 3M.
Work location:
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
Washington, DC, with a minimum of three days in person and an option for hybrid flexibility, two days per week.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $212,947 - $260,268, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
