Job Title: Assistant Press Operator
Job Description
The Assistant Press Operator plays a crucial role in supporting the setup and operation of a press or coater, along with associated support equipment. This role involves preparation of the work zone and components before setup and during operation, as well as loading and unloading of materials. The Assistant Press Operator also manages cardboard packaging, forms boxes, prints labels, packs finished materials, and seals the unit upon completion.
This is an entry-level role, requiring only 6 months of more of machine operating/manufacturing experience.
A learning position to either stay as an assistant operator on the 1st shift or be quickly promoted to press operator on either off-shift --> (Pay 24+ w/in 9 mo)
Responsibilities
+ Proactively monitor and document product quality during all phases of operations.
+ Identify, load, and unload raw materials and finished goods such as PS Stock, Paper, Boxes, and Cores.
+ Build, label, and pack boxes and pallets, then seal them as required.
+ Move, stack, and shrink wrap pallets in preparation for shipment.
+ Operate finishing equipment such as fan folders, sheeters, baggers, tape machines, turrets, and others.
+ Directly support the setup of the press/coater and finishing equipment.
+ Prepare, test, and apply adhesives, inks, releases, or other chemicals to support operations.
+ Measure and adjust pH, viscosity, and color of inks, varnishes, adhesives, or other chemicals.
+ Mount printing plates and dies onto cylinders.
+ Assemble components for prep carts to expedite machine setup.
+ Select, identify, insert, and remove plates, aniloxes or gravure cylinders from presses, and components from turrets or finishing equipment.
+ Properly clean and store aniloxes, gravure cylinders, or printing plates.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in manufacturing is preferred.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Basic computer and math skills.
+ Proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
+ Ability to read scale within 1/64.
+ Competence in entering data legibly and accurately into forms and computers.
+ Ability to read, write, interpret, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
+ Skill in reading and understanding work orders and asking relevant questions.
+ Effective communication with coworkers and all levels of management.
+ Capacity to work as part of a team to meet business requirements.
+ Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ General labor and heavy lifting experience.
+ Experience in machine operation and mechanical skills.
Work Environment
The work environment is non-climate controlled. The hours for this role are from 7am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, as part of the day shift. Employees interested in advancing to a Press Operator position, which offers a higher salary, should be open to moving to a second or third shift.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.38 - $18.38/hr.
