Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist capable of programming three, four, and five axis machine tools using Unigraphics, Power-Mill, and MasterCam software. The ideal candidate will have experience setting up and operating Computer Numerical Controlled milling centers, as well as conventional machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and band saws. The role involves selecting proper tooling, jigs, fixtures, and ensuring correct speeds and feeds for materials, along with verifying part setups to prevent crashes.
Responsibilities
+ Program and operate CNC milling centers with multi-axis capabilities.
+ Operate conventional machines and general machine shop equipment.
+ Set up machine tools with appropriate tooling, jigs, fixtures, and speeds.
+ Verify machine references to prevent crashes and ensure proper clearance.
+ Order materials and ensure necessary certifications and tooling.
+ Develop flight work packages and coordinate support service signoffs.
+ Estimate time and materials for hardware manufacturing.
+ Provide support for walk-in work and collaborate on drawing issues.
+ Adhere to fabrication policies and procedures and comply with safety regulations.
+ Work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
+ Stay updated with new technologies in welding and fabrication.
+ Machine complex structures to tight tolerances.
+ Operate motive equipment safely, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
+ Become trained in Fall Protection and Shop Machine Safety.
+ Utilize Microsoft Office 365 for communication and documentation.
+ Work overtime as needed to meet customer delivery deadlines.
+ Assist with developing Job Hazard Analysis for NASA safety compliance.
+ Develop skills in utilizing JobBoss2 for work package processing.
Essential Skills
+ Troubleshooting skills.
+ Experience with lathe machines.
+ Ability to perform minor programming tasks.
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office 365.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in machining complex structures.
+ Ability to operate motive equipment safely.
+ Training in Fall Protection and Shop Machine Safety.

Work Environment
The candidate will work onsite at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, primarily in a shop environment. Collaboration with a team of Fabricators and Welders is essential. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with overtime available. The candidate will have office space with a computer for time keeping, email communication, and engineering drawing tasks.

This is a Contract position based out of Hampton, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
