Job Description
As a Coating Technician, you will be responsible for the critical steps in a battery manufacturing process to create high-quality anode and cathode electrodes, which are the heart and soul of the battery. You must be dexterous and detail-oriented, primarily overseeing the electrode coating processes, including machine start-up, loading the machine with coating mixture, troubleshooting process issues, in-process quality checks, finished product quality, and documentation. You will become the subject matter expert in the roll-to-roll process of slot die coating.
Responsibilities
+ Understand process capabilities through design of experiments and data analysis.
+ Develop and optimize process conditions for new materials, recipes, and designs.
+ Lead new process development from validation at pilot scales to the scale-up in mass production.
+ Drive a multi-functional team to solve technically complex problems using first principle and data-driven methodologies.
Essential Skills
+ Machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
+ Experience troubleshooting automated machines.
+ Responsibility for in-process and finished product quality in manufacturing.
+ Ability to stand on feet all day.
+ Steel-toed shoes.
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs as needed and bend, squat, lift as required in a general manufacturing sense.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience operating mechanical slitter, calender, coater, or punching equipment in previous jobs is an advantage.
Shift & Pay
+ 1st shift: 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday
+ **$21 - $24 based on experience.**

Work Environment
This is a very clean environment to meet the requirements for battery manufacturing. The coating area, while the dirtiest due to the coating material, remains very clean. The facility is temperature controlled to some extent, maintaining around 75 degrees in warmer areas during the summer. The position follows a 1st shift schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of the Castleton area of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
