    Veterinary Teaching Hospital

    At the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ) we exist to educate the next

    generation of veterinarians by providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community every day. This work unit exists to provide administration and direction of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility for service to the general public and referring veterinarians.

    Position Summary

    This position responsible for operating room procedures, sterile techniques, patient positioning, and aseptic patient preparation. This position is knowledgeable about basic surgical instruments and power equipment.

     

    This position is responsible for implementing proper maintenance and operation of all surgical equipment by performing daily equipment preservation. This includes surgical equipment used in Small Animal Surgery. The role also involves preparing all surgical suites with the necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment for specific surgical procedures. Additional duties include organizing, cleaning, and returning all equipment and instruments to Central Supply or proper storage areas after surgery, cleaning rooms between surgeries, stocking rooms with necessary items, and assisting with the daily surgery schedule.

     

    A signing bonus may be considered for the successful candidate.

    Required Job Qualifications

    + Minimum of two years of experience in a veterinary setting, with demonstrated proficiency in animal handling, client communication, and basic laboratory procedures.

    + Registered as a Veterinary Technician ( RVT ) or Provisional Veterinary Technician ( PVT ) through the Department of Regulatory Agencies ( DORA ), or eligibility to obtain a state of Colorado DORA license by start date.

    + Credentialed in the State of Colorado or other eligible state determined by CACVT .

    + NOTE : VETERINARY PRACTICE ACT – Effective January 1, 2024, anyone wanting to use the titles Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician, RVT , or VT will have to be certified through the Colorado Association of Certified Veterinary Technicians ( CACVT ) AND registered through the Department of Regulatory Agencies ( DORA ).     Preferred Job Qualifications

    + One year of experience in the operating room

    + Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA -accredited school

    Set up surgical equipment and supplies before procedures.

     

    Clip and position patients properly for surgery.

     

    Prepare the surgical site using sterile techniques.

     

    Assist the surgeon during procedures by handing instruments and meeting their needs.

     

    Operate equipment such as the Fluoroscopy machine and Storz towers.

     

    Maintain OR cleanliness and follow biosecurity protocols after surgeries.
