Job Title: Manual Machinist
Job Description
As a Manual Machinist, you will operate and maintain manual tooling machines, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses. You will read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances, ensuring precision through the use of micrometers, calipers, and gauges. You will also conduct quality control inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain high standards. Additionally, you will write and edit CNC programs to enhance machining processes and improve efficiency.
Responsibilities
+ Operate and maintain manual tooling machines such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
+ Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
+ Utilize precision measurement tools to ensure parts meet exact specifications.
+ Conduct thorough inspections of machined tooling and molds.
+ Perform adjustments to machinery and tooling as needed.
+ Write and edit CNC programs to optimize machining processes.
+ Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for machining operations.
+ Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
+ Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing PPE.
Essential Skills
+ Around 4 years of experience operating Bridgeport, lathe, and grinder.
+ Proficiency in reading blueprints and utilizing precision measurement tools.
+ Experience with plastic injection mold is highly beneficial.
+ Knowledge of tool and die, tooling setup, and steel materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Tenure in previous roles is preferred.
+ Vocational schooling is advantageous.
+ Familiarity with CNC programming is a plus.

Work Environment
The work environment is characterized by a smaller, laid-back team of around 30 members. The dress code requires safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and long pants. The first shift runs from 6am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with flexible Saturday hours. Expect consistent work hours ranging from 45 to 55 hours per week. Training involves one-on-one mentorship, and flexible working hours are accommodated with prior communication.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Caledonia, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
