    Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

    Job Description

    As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing heavy equipment used for the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of bulk materials. This position requires availability for overtime and on-call duties when necessary.

    Responsibilities

    + Repair and maintain heavy equipment, including diesel and gas engines, electric motors, generators, hydraulic and pneumatic attachments.

    + Diagnose and resolve issues with heavy equipment such as cranes, loaders, and dozers.

    + Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical engines, vehicles, and equipment utilized in bulk handling operations.

    + Inspect and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on equipment.

    + Operate various tools and equipment, including cutting torches, welders, forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and electric meters.

    Essential Skills

    + Expertise in heavy equipment and forklift repair.

    + Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

    + Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

    + Familiarity with construction equipment such as Caterpillar.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in dismantling and repairing heavy equipment.

    + Knowledge of fuel and brake systems, cable handling devices, and control systems.

    Work Environment

     

    This position is based in a coal terminal, which is a dirty environment with heavy equipment. The maintenance department operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the plant running 24/7. You may need to work overtime and be on-call as required.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Port Sulphur, Louisiana.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.
