SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for assisting physicians in the medical management and surgical care of pre-and post-surgical patients, performing such functions as admitting patients from ER, outside institutions, from clinic or directly from home. Engaged in admitting, consulting, and advising treatment plans for inpatients, following established protocols for initial and subsequent visits. Daily pre-rounding by daily inpatient rounds in the ICU, IMC, ER, Observation Unit, Peds Hospital and all hospital floors.

Work includes providing direct patient care such as history & physical examinations, diagnosing, and analyzing the patient's current health condition in collaboration with a physician and/or established protocols/standards while providing cost-effective, quality medical care to all patients. In addition, care of wounds, daily orders including nutrition, meds, therapy, etc.

Will work in conjunction with and seek supervision from Staff Physicians and the Medical Director.Provides care of hospitalized patients and has full control of a patient throughout their entire shift.

Additional duties include, covering service pager, responding to emergencies, inpatient procedures, care transition.

Primary clinical setting is inpatient.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

+ Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of Pennsylvania required

+ National Certification in Pennsylvania or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania required.

+ Basic Life Support (BLS)
