Summary
The Treasury Investment group is responsible for the management of NYPA’s funds according to investment guidelines set by the Board. This role helps manage financial risks including market risks, interest rate risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk, performance evaluation, and presentation of investment results.
The Investment Analyst will assist the Treasury Investment team in the administration of the Authority’s Other Post-Employment Benefits Trust and Internal Treasury Portfolio, as well as execute related transactions and payments, and prepare reporting.
The Analyst will work across internal departments and with external consultants, fund managers and dealers. They prepare, collect, and interpret financial and accounting information; conduct financial analyses of proposals, investments and fund sources; and use treasury management software and custodian systems.
The Investment Analyst should have intermediate to advanced Excel skills and financial analysis experience, with investment analysis experience highly preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate interest in expanding their skills and knowledge, and motivation for learning and growth within a dynamic space supported by training and broad exposure to investment analysis.

Responsibilities
+ Assist in trade settlement, reporting and analysis of the Authority’s investment portfolios according to standards established in the Authority’s Investment Guidelines.
+ Assist in preparation of reporting and fee payment and tracking of the Other Post Employment Benefits Trust Funds. Responsibilities may include:: 1) Monitoring fund performances; 2) Assist rebalancing execution; 3) Coordinate and attend portfolio review meetings.
+ Support the management of all external relationships and represent the Authority with brokers, consultants and investment advisors.
+ Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual investment reports for submission to Senior management and/or various State and Public oversight agencies.
+ Provide support to the Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer on debt, credit and other special projects as required.
+ Assist validation of market value of all NYPA’s internal security holdings on a monthly basis, and report any discrepancies to the Treasurer or the Deputy Treasurer.
+ Prepare documentation for all investment-related audit requests conducted internally or externally.
+ Assist with all required trustee approvals as needed with respect to all investment management activity of the Authority.
+ Assist the team in the development and implementation of new processes that methodically evaluate and communicate the impact of investments made by the company.
+ Assist in preparation of monthly investment income forecasts and metrics presentations as required.
+ Compile information and data into simple, presentable content appropriate for understanding at all levels of an organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Well-organized and responsive to management and other department requests.
+ Ability to prioritize and plan work accordingly to deliver results in a timely manner.
+ Demonstrated advanced analytical (i.e. Excel) skills with an ability to evaluate large volumes of data, handle complex tasks and interpret trends.
+ Experience or demonstrated aptitude with ERP and/or Treasury management software or databases.
Education, Experience and Certifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) required.
+ Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
+ Minimum 2 years of work experience in related field preferred.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone.
The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $78,000 - $107,800. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
