Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for a **Senior Manager of Shaft Subsystem Design** , within our Robotics & Digital Solutions organization. The location for this position is **Cincinnati, Ohio** .

Overview:
The Senior Manager of Shaft Subsystem Design will provide functional leadership for a group of talented and versatile engineers working in a matrix environment to create the best-in-class surgical devices for the OTTAVA Surgical Robot. The Shaft Subsystem Design Team is responsible for the design of the entire shaft portion of the tools including the jaws, articulating wrist and shaft. This includes the primary portfolio of tools, staplers, and advanced energy devices. This team blends deep technical design skills with clinical knowledge to deliver surgical instruments that surgeons desire.
Core Job Responsibilities:
+ Lead the Shaft Subsystem Design Team including functional leadership, HR responsibility, budget and planning to support project teams.
+ Support talent development including developing technical and leadership skills as well as clinical understanding.
+ Design solutions in a fast-paced environment with a quick development cycle and support those designs with DFx, engineering analysis, risk analysis, prototyping, and data analysis.
+ Lead and/or support initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency including tool and process improvements.
+ Lead and /or support innovation projects targeted a specific business need.
+ Collaborate with partners to advance/accelerate R&D projects.
+ Engage third party suppliers as needed to support R&D needs.
+ Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to deliver cost efficient and innovative products and processes.
+ Hire and grow team according to business plan. Partner with recruiters for hiring and employee onboarding.
+ Coach and mentor the team.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:
+ Minimum B.S (Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering field equivalent)
+ A minimum of 8+ years of practical experience in the design and commercialization of medical products.
+ Demonstrated ability to deliver R&D projects and strong mechanical engineering skills and leadership.
+ Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills.
+ Comfortable with all phases of product development lifecycle from concept to production.
+ Hands-on with a track record of working well in a team environment.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of complex custom component manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, coatings, injection molding, cables, MIM, PM, etc.
Preferred Requirements:
+ 3+ years of engineering management experience, preferably with complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems.
+ Experience with the development of robotic and or laparoscopic surgical tools is highly desired.
+ Experience with designing and developing products in an FDA or other regulated industry.
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

+ Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

+ Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year
+ Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
