    Position Overview:

    The Global Director, Strategic Alliances for Biosurgery is a key function within MedTech General Surgery organization in leading strategic alliances focused on innovation and supply of products in our Global Biosurgery portfolio. The purpose of Alliance Management is to provide leadership and vision in the formation & direction of commercial alliances that improve value for both partners and provide opportunities to unlock hidden alignment. Alliance Management is responsible for the overall management of specified alliances and directing partnership activities involving key General Surgery collaborators at each partner company. Main responsibilities include leading post-deal and day-to-day alliance activities to shape and achieve the strategic objectives of the alliance, establishing clear communication lines across the partnership, anticipating and resolving potential issues, negotiating ancillary agreements and amendments and overall ensuring the highest quality relationship possible.

     

    **The objective** of the Director, Biosurgery Strategic Alliances is to:

    + Ensure that Med Tech General Surgery Biosurgery realizes the full potential of investment in all strategic alliances, and where possible create additional value through outstanding resource management.

    + Ensure an excellent working relationship with MedTech General Surgery Biosurgery current and future partners/i.e. partnership development and market development.

    + Promote Med Tech General Surgery Biosurgery as the global partner of choice for device, pharmaceutical, biotech, and service provider partners looking to lead innovation in orthopedic patient care & care delivery; identify new opportunities at existing partners and bring them to the attention of the DePuy Synthes team.

    Responsibilities:

    The role focuses on the management of strategic alliances both external to and within the Johnson & Johnson family companies, working in close co-operation with the Global VP GSM Biosurgery

     

    + Proactively manage the strategic alliances and act as the key contact for the management of the legal and contractual framework established for the alliance.

    + Matrixed Leader responsibility for GSM Team, R&D, Supply Chain, Legal and Quality that fosters close working relationships with each partner and handles tactical items relating to the operation of an alliance in accordance with the established contractual terms.

    + Anticipate potential issues before they appear and take the lead in resolving business related challenges; build consensus where required to move the alliance forward when at an impasse on a particular issue.

    + Work successfully with regional MedTech General Surgery Biosurgery regions and R&D partners as well as Operations, Legal, Finance, and HCC to ensure alliances are in harmony with all business and legal obligations. Ensure all internal partners understand key contractual issues.

    + Negotiation of activities, structure and deal terms for existing and/or new alliances.

    + Lead overall business relationship for collaborations and contractual aspects of alliances post-signing, including participation and leading joint governance meetings with partners as relevant. Ensure productive governance meetings with high quality agendas, facilitation of discussion and issue resolution, and follow-up on and completion of action items.

    + Monitor agreements, and with cooperation from internal partners, lead the renegotiation/amendment of contracts when a more optimal alliance structure can be attained.

    + Leads alliance strategy across the entire Biosurgery portfolio, and will lead partnership integration through launch, direction and strategic shifts, and enhancements.

    + Implement Alliance Management programmatic processes and tools appropriate to the scope and needs of the alliance.

    + Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to proactively foster coordination and alignment of all internal and external partners to the goals and objectives of the alliance.

    Qualifications:

    + A minimum of a BA degree is required. Continued education in a technical, life science, or business subject area is preferred. MBA preferred.

    + A minimum of 10 years of professional healthcare related experience, required.

    + Experience developing and managing timelines, budgets and similar details on multiple large-scale projects or in a significant line capacity is required.

    + Experience in managing and working in a team environment is required, with a proven ability to mobilize and align diverse groups across multiple functions and companies to build interdependent partnerships.

    + Experience leading and managing cross-functional groups and project teams that include senior leaders to accomplish company goals.

    + Ability to multitask, strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, good coaching and influencing skills, strong active listening skills, and ability to articulate and formulate decisions and actions in clear business language, excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deliver decision ready presentations

    + Demonstrated success in building and managing strong relationships.

    + This position requires strong leadership and analytical skills as well as previous experience with public speaking and presenting to senior level executives.

    + Demonstrated success in matrix environment preferred.

    + Experience in a Commercial organization is preferred.

    + Experience in operations or program management is preferred.

    + Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

    $146,000 - $251,850

    Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
