    Postdoctoral Fellow Position:

    Human immune responses to infection by and vaccination against malaria.

     

    We are seeking a Postdoctoral scientist with immunological interest and expertise for research project on human responses to _malaria_ vaccination or infection. The project is analyzing samples from clinical trials with attenuated sporozoite vaccine with a focus on pre-erythrocytic stage protection. It employs cutting edge immunological and informatic analyses in a systems immunology approach that is supported by technical, data management/analysis and clinical cores. The project is conducted within the Seattle site of the Human Immunology Consortium (HIPC) that involves researchers at Seattle Children's, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the Allen Institute for Immunology and which is part of the NIH HIPC3 program (www.immuneprofiling.org). Our focus is on identifying immunological processes and cellular and humoral components that correlate with protection to advance malaria vaccine development and understanding of the human immune system.

     

    The ideal candidate will be independent, motivated and hard-working. He/she is expected to work closely with the PIs and various lab staff and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

     

    **Responsibilities** include literature review, experimental design and performing experiments, data analysis, reports, and manuscript preparation. The PIs are committed to trainees’ career development and will provide opportunities for the successful candidate to compete for fellowships, high-profile publications, and academic awards.

    Required Education and Experience

     

    Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.

     

    Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

    Required Credentials

    N/A.

    Preferred

    + Significant training in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology,

    + At least one first-author publication in related journals.

    + Demonstrated experience in some aspects of cellular and molecular immunology and bioinformatics.

     

    Compensation Range

     

    $77,968.80 - $116,937.60 per year

     

    Salary Information

     

    This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
