A Brief Overview
The Financial Reporting Analyst (with Accounting focus) will assist in the implementation of Accounting Standard Updates (ASUs) and compilation of audited financial statements. This position reviews, designs, implements, and documents internal controls and complex accounting procedures over the financial reporting function. The Analyst provides technical accounting support to business units and management. The position performs accounting assignments independently, often involving complex business transactions and large amounts of financial data. The Financial Reporting Analyst (with Finance focus) will provide technical support and solution for the implementation of ASUs and process automation for complex accounting processes. The Analyst conducts financial analysis on key performance indicators and make recommendations to management. Data analytics and financial modeling are other major responsibilities for this role.
What you will do
+ Assess the impact of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements to Company’s financial statements, develop implementation plan and work closely with applicable business units to implement accounting standard changes
+ Review, design, implement, and document internal controls and key accounting procedures over financial reporting
+ Research accounting literature and apply US GAAP standards to non-routine and complex transactions
+ Prepare technical accounting memos to communicate accounting positions on complex, non-routine transactions to management and external audit firm
+ Compile and/or review Company’s audited financial statements and footnote disclosures, employee benefit plan financial report, and other ad hoc reports as required
+ Communicate with all levels of management to align technical accounting requirements with business processes
+ Perform accounting assignments independently, often involving complex business transactions and a large amount of financial data
+ Create and maintain accounting models for ASU implementation and simplification of complex accounting processes
+ Provide Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for various performance metrics for FirstBank leadership
+ Extract, examine, and summarize financial data and make recommendations on data quality when applicable
+ Work across business functions to effectively identify and retrieve relevant data sets and data points in performing data analytics
+ Assist with the development of policies and procedures in model creation, modification, documentation, and recovery
+ Act as a point of contact with external auditor for escalated or complex topics
+ Train and mentor junior department employees
+ Perform other duties and projects as assigned
+ Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy
Minimum Requirements
+ Typically requires a bachelor's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
+ A combination of post-high school education, job related certification and related experience equivalent to 5 years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements
Preferred Requirements
+ Experience working in public accounting or in a financial reporting role
+ Experience working in general ledger accounting
+ CPA
+ Experience performing external financial reporting and implementations of FASB pronouncements
+ Experience working in data modeling and data analytics
+ Certification in data science/data analytics
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Ability to apply complex accounting concepts to business processes
+ Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting
+ Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to refine processes and procedures
+ Advanced analytical skills with ability to use data analysis programs and applications for data analytics, financial modeling, and process improvements
+ Ability to focus on multiple priorities without degradation to quality of work produced
+ Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
+ Self-motivated and self-starter
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
+ Advanced Excel skills
+ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
+ Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day
+ Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
+ Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms
+ Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights
+ Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files
+ Constantly communicates with customers, coworkers, and management in-person and on the phone
+ Must be able to exchange accurate information
+ FirstBank does not currently offer fully remote positions, except as required by law. The actual number of in-office days that may be required will vary by business unit, role, and business need.
Salary Range
$76,752.00 To $102,492.00
