Responsibilities
+ Prepare the operating room for assigned surgical procedures with proper instrumentation and sterilization
+ Navigate the nuances of surgical procedures and surgeons you’ll be supporting
+ Adapt to the needs of emergency situations
+ Provide clean-up and turnover of operating room to prepare for next patient
Qualifications
+ A minimum of two (2) years recent hospital experience in the capacity of a Surgical Technologist in all surgical specialties.
+ Certification as a Surgical Technologist
+ BLS
+ Demonstrates advanced skills appropriate to the role of the Surgical Technologist.
+ Demonstrates proficiency in ability to scrub ophthalmology procedures and total joint procedures OR proficiency in ability to scrub Cardiac procedures.
+ Demonstrates ability to serve as a preceptor and role model for new Surgical Technologist staff and Surgical Technologist students during their clinical rotations.
+ Demonstrates ability to work within a decentralized model of patient care delivery.
+ Demonstrates a caring compassionate attitude toward others.
+ Demonstrates ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
+ Demonstrates ability to work in a stressful environment while remaining calm efficient and focused.
+ Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly concisely and accurately both in oral and written English skills.
+ Demonstrates ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs unit based task forces and committees.
+ Seeks opportunities for improving job knowledge and skills.
+ Demonstrates ability to assume on call status as determined by department manager and according to Department needs.
+ Demonstrates ability to role model proficient intermediate or advanced technical skills and specialty skills.
