Job Title: MODEM Architect
Job Description
Work with Engineering staff and chief engineers in the concept development, architecture, prototype design, integration, and testing of high-power processing solutions for various product lines and technology areas. These include high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, high-energy laser systems, battery systems, advanced aerospace and electro-optic sensors, space-based optical communications, small satellites, space systems, nuclear thermal propulsion, optical beam pointing and control, and signal/image processing.
Responsibilities
+ Work with engineering staff and chief engineers to develop concepts, architectures, and prototypes for high-power processing solutions.
+ Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives for reviewing, researching, designing, developing, and/or solving engineering system issues.
+ Demonstrate experience in improving legacy systems and developing new systems.
+ Generate electrical controls and embedded systems architecture solutions, perform engineering analyses for systems and circuits, document findings, and communicate results to engineering and program management staff.
+ Provide technical presentations and manage technical effort schedules.
+ Function in an advisory or leadership role for projects/programs, providing planning, direction, and oversight to less experienced professional staff.
+ Formulate multi-year plans and coordinate solution development and deployment, including documentation, reporting, and technical presentations.
+ Evaluate the integration of engineering solutions within the overall engineering environment and ensure completion of appropriate documentation, testing, maintenance, and updates.
+ Plan for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology.
+ Develop new and expand existing business opportunities.
+ Communicate with colleagues and management throughout the solution development and deployment cycles.
+ Represent the company as a prime technical contact on contracts/projects and interact with external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ MODEM algorithm modeling, design, and implementation.
+ Expertise in the design and implementation of MODEM algorithms in FPGAs.
+ Understanding of multirate filters, synchronization, timing, symbol, and frequency recovery and tracking loops.
+ Ability to create a modem reference model and map the model to functional implementation.
+ Embedded systems development (processor, microcontroller, FPGA).
+ Experience in the analysis, design, and implementation of hardware systems including digital, analog, and RF.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
+ Fifteen (15) or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, thirteen (13) or more years with a master's degree, or ten (10) or more years with a PhD.
+ Experience in embedded systems development for complex, high-performance system-of-systems.
+ Embedded systems architecture and project development for Xilinx and/or Microsemi devices including Zynq Ultrascale+ and SmartFusion2 SoCs.
+ Familiarity with DoD technical review processes.
+ Experience with Matlab, Xilinx Vivado Design Suite, Xilinx Vitis Unified Software Platform, Microsemi Libero SoC Design Suite, Linux, VHDL, C/C++, PADS or Altium PCB Design Software, project management tools.
+ Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving project.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $230000.00/yr.
