The Position
Positions allocated to this series perform complex mathematical and statistical analysis on public health databases by applying statistical theories and principles to determine cause and effect relationships.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Biostatistician 2 will support statistical analysis of complex datasets related to child welfare, juvenile justice, children's mental and behavioral health, and victim services within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office of Analytics in support of the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Responsibilities include compiling, summarizing, and analyzing data for recurring weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as fulfilling ad hoc data requests and research activities. Key duties involve conducting analyses, preparing descriptive statistics, reports, and dashboards, and ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of all work products. The Biostatistician 2 will also assist with linking and managing datasets across program areas to support reporting and evaluation needs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in statistics, mathematics or closely related field and one year of professional experience conducting statistical analysis including gathering and analyzing data from various sources using computer software; OR one year of experience as a Biostatistician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
