    Come join a company that strives for _Extraordinary People and Exceptional Performance_ ! **Chenega Professional & Technical Services, LLC,** a **Chenega Professional Services** ’ company, is looking for a **Laboratory Technician 3 – Entomology Technical Support** The **Laboratory Technician 3 – Entomology Technical Support** shall provide support to the Vector Threat Assessment Branch with laboratory experiments working with arthropods, rodents, and small animals in BSL-2, BSL-3 and BSL-4 laboratories and thus must hold and maintain BPRP status, IAW the provisions in this contract and applicable regulations. The **Laboratory Technician 3 – Entomology Technical Support** will work with controlled substances and therefore must hold and maintain CS-PRP status, in accordance with the provisions of this contract and applicable regulations.

    Responsibilities

    + May serve as a BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 maintain healthy lab-reared vector colonies, including mosquitoes and ticks, for vector production to support the branch research efforts. This requires working with animals used for colony maintenance to include rodents and rabbits.

    + Monitor insectary facilities and equipment as required, promptly report any irregular conditions to the branch chief, and place work orders for necessary maintenance.

    + assist in the infection of arthropod vectors in Arthropod Containment Level (ACL)-2 and -3 with BSL-2 and BSL-3 pathogens using both injection and oral infection techniques and assist with the transmission of pathogens to animals as required.

    + Harvest arthropod and animal tissues, and molecular analyses of samples. Arthropod samples may include midgut, salivary glands, expectorated saliva and hemolymph. Animal tissues may include liver, spleen and blood from infected mammalian hosts.

    + Maintain a safe workplace, ensuring appropriate safety and occupational health rules and regulations are observed. The Contractor shall ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained as required, including glassware cleaning and operation of sterilization equipment.

    + Collect and organize laboratory data, provide data summaries, troubleshoot, and provide job-related progress reports/technical reports, as requested.

    + Assist with preparation of laboratory reagents, and maintain inventory and accountability of laboratory reagents, equipment, biological materials and study materials pertaining to experiment execution.

    + CONUS travel may be required in support of approved studies and/or presentation of scientific research.

    + Assist with annual conduct of Equipment Inventory Management in BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4.

    + Maintain responsibility for the management, proper documentation, safeguard, and storage of BSAT, animal tissue samples, working stock samples and controlled substances.

    + Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree in related field.

    + 2+ years of lab experience.

    + Must legally reside in the U.S. and have valid work authorization for U.S. employment.

    _Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:_

    + CS-PRP enrollment is required and will be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.

    + BPRP enrollment is required and will be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations.

     

    Estimated Salary/Wage

     

    USD $55,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $65,000.00/Yr.
