    Summary

    **SUMMARY** : The physician will provide physical medicine and rehabilitation services for Alameda Health System. Services will be on-site at either Highland Hospital, San Leandro Hospital or Alameda Hospital. This position is for service as needed position covering as an acute inpatient PM&R attending or acute care PM&R consult attending at a level 1 trauma center. We are offering weekend coverage opportunities 1–2 weekends per month and up to 5 weekdays per month for PTO/CME time coverage when full-time physicians are absent. This position is for PM&R work duties only. Alameda Health System has 24/7 internal medicine coverage of the acute rehab unit.

    **DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** : NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

    Role: Inpatient PM&R Physician

    1. Evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation, medically manage and treat patients with developmental or acquired physical or neurological impairment including the design and monitoring of rehabilitative programs.

    2. Admit and provide primary attending physician coverage to acute inpatient rehabilitation unit including performance of general history and physical examination.

    3. Attendance at weekly team conferences and perform at least three in-person subsequent visits per week per patient when covering acute inpatient rehabilitation services.

    4. Provide acute care physical medicine and rehabilitation consultations at Alameda Hospital and Highland Hospital.

    5. Attend HGH trauma multi-disciplinary rounds while on consultation service

    6. Work with ARU clinical liaison team to provide additional clinical information on appropriateness and barriers to admission on patients who have received a PM&R consultation at HGH and Alameda Hospital.

    7. Provide home call services from 4PM until 8AM including admission of new patients and answer calls related to physical medicine and rehabilitation problems (pain, bowel and bladder programs, wounds, behaviors, sleep dysfunction). There is no home call when covering consult service.

    8. Provide weekend call coverage (Friday 4PM until Monday 8AM) for the acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Weekend Duties include admission of new patients including history and physical, home call services listed above, and in person visits with established patients with urgent clinical issues.

    9. Perform procedures such as soft tissue and trigger point injections, ligament and tendon injections, Botox injections, care of wounds and decubitus, prescribe orthotic and prosthetic devices, wheelchairs, and ambulatory devices, special beds and other assistive devices, arthrocentesis, aspiration and joint/bursae injection. (procedures are a possibility but not required for this position)

    **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** :

     

    Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.

     

    Required: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

     

    Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.

     

    Valid DEA license

     

    Pay Range: $172.90 - $183.11 / Hour

Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
