    DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    In this role, you will take on the responsibilities of a calibration technician, focusing on the upkeep, repair, and calibration processes within the Laboratory Testing Section (LTS) to ensure adherence to the section's Quality Management System (QMS). Your duties will encompass executing preventative maintenance and making necessary adjustments, as well as performing intricate electrical and mechanical repairs. Additionally, you will conduct functional tests on various testing equipment and instruments to ensure they operate effectively and maintain peak performance. Your position will also require you to investigate appropriate methodologies, create innovative techniques, and formulate procedures for in-house calibrations, standardizations, and evaluations of diverse laboratory testing instruments. Moreover, you will evaluate both new and existing testing methodologies, offering insights and recommendations for potential improvements to enhance overall efficiency and accuracy.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment

    + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + One year as a Materials Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

    + Two years of experience in the testing of materials used in highway, bridge, building, hydraulic or similar construction projects and graduation from high school; or

    + One year of experience in the testing of materials used in highway, bridge, building, hydraulic or similar construction projects, and an Associate's Degree in engineering or in a closely related field; or

    + Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
