POSITION:The Assistant Superintendent is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Principal of ELA/Social Studies
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Candidate must possess a Master of Science degree in
+ Candidates must possess a valid New York State School District Leader Certification. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching certification in one of the areas this position oversees.
+ Candidates should have a minimum of seven years' experience as a teacher orPreference will be given to candidates with prior administrative experience.
+ Candidates must possess fingerprint clearance from the New York State Education
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ The Director of ELA, Social Studies, & Library Media Science is responsible for developing, planning, managing, supporting, organizing, and implementing the ELA, Social Studies & Library programs within the elementary, middle, and high school and provides leadership for school wide initiatives for the ELA, Social Studies & Library programs.
+ The incumbent in this position provides direction and leadership for the overall administration and coordination of the ELA, Social Studies & Library programs in support of effective instructional practices, communication, and operation efficiency.
+ Provides direction and leadership in the development of a comprehensive ELA, Social Studies & Library Media Science curriculum.
+ Oversees the development and enhancement of the ELA, Social Studies & Library Media Science curriculum for instructional programs and collaborates with teachers and administration in the development and maintenance of the ELA, Social Studies & Library Media Science curriculum.
+ Promotes effective instructional practices and communication that supports elevated levels of instruction through research-based data-driven best practices, effective classroom consultation, and program evaluation.
+ Monitors school system data to determine trends and in turn develops and implements the most effective strategies for meeting and exceeding state and national student achievement goals.
+ Leads a process for the evaluation, selection, and acquisition of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooks to support ELA, Social Studies & Library Science
+ Assists administrators and teachers in evaluating and improving classroom instruction in the ELA, Social Studies & Library Media Science programs.
+ Assists in the development of a proposed annual budget relating to curriculum development and the instructional materials needs.
+ Assists in reviewing and evaluating results of testing programs and recommends appropriate modifications to the ELA, Social Studies & Library curriculum.
+ Assists in the planning and development of school-wide instructional in-service programs for teachers, aides, and parent volunteers to help raise the level of instructional performance and student achievement in ELA, Social Studies & Library programs.
+ Manages and coordinates professional development training for ELA, Social Studies & Librarian
+ Prepares narrative and statistical reports regarding the ELA, Social Studies & Library programs and provides support to administrators and teachers in data driven decision making to improve student achievement.
+ Coordinates appropriate field test and revision process relating to the ELA, Social Studies & Library curriculum, ensuring teacher input.
+ Performs other duties as assigned by the

+ Must have strong undergraduate aptitude in ELA, Social Studies, and/or Library Media
+ Ability to organize programs, personnel, and activities required for productive learning in the
