Job Description
AECOM** is seeking an **Electrical Engineering Intern** to be based in **New York, New York.
The internship – Electrical Engineer Intern will join the Transportation team and can work on projects involving the design of power and extra low voltage networks, as well as substations, street lighting, etc. This role will involve travel to project sites around NYC and surrounding boroughs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Develop designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and project models as per specific discipline requirements. Work on drawings under the supervision of an experienced Engineer.
+ Assist with the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure high-quality outputs under project timelines.
+ Under Supervision, perform work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule.
+ When required, collect and analyze information from specific interdisciplinary project BIM models.
+ Use computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems.
+ Coordinate with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
+ Participate in design progress and coordination meetings.
+ Check and ensure the quality of model production by BIM/CAD teams for accuracy to design instructions.
+ Actively seek information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develop efficiencies and effectiveness.
+ Contribute by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering with the intent to continue after the internship, unless graduating.
+ Candidates must have completed two years of study in their program.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Knowledge and experience navigating NYC and surrounding boroughs.
+ Proficient in MS Office Suite.
+ Excellent communication skills.
+ Demonstrate ability to manage time, deadlines, keep track of steps, and prioritize tasks.
+ Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and Hydrologic/Hydraulic models).

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $25.00/hour - $30.00/hour.
