Position Summary
The Director of Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention Initiatives (the “Director”) will provide coordination services for the Department of Justice grant (“the Grant”) related to sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking (Grant awarded October 2023). Reporting through the Health and Wellness Center, the Director will be responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to ensure that all requirements of the Grant are met and will report results to appropriate parties, including to the Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women (OVW). The Director will work collaboratively with offices throughout the University to ensure the timely achievement of goals outlined in the Grant.

Major Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of the Director of Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention Initiatives include but are not limited to the following:
+ Establishes and regularly (at least monthly) convenes a Coordinated Community Response (CCR) team dedicated to maintaining community connections that assist Utica University community members who need support around issues of sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking; CCR will include, at a minimum, the Safe Trax Program Director and representatives from YWCA, Utica Police Department, and Mohawk Valley Health Systems.
+ Attends all required OVW-sponsored programs, training sessions, and technical institutes including any orientation sessions.
+ Works with the Office of the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness/Dean of Assessment to analyze campus climate survey data and disaggregate the data by demographics to identify population-specific needs and concerns.
+ Works with the appropriate University offices to create and disseminate an electronic survey designed to identify training needs for faculty and staff in the areas of sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.
+ Uses best practice reviews and other research to reviews all University policies and procedures related to sexual assault, dating violence and stalking; leverages University expertise and expertise found on the CCR team to implement necessary revisions to policies and procedures.
+ Develops a policy statement (in year one of the Grant) specifically related to stalking, including cyberstalking, to the leadership of the University.
+ Works closely with CCR team to create a two-year operational plan to guide the implementation of grant requirements.
+ Creates and implements prevention education and promotes awareness of sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.
+ Assists in achieving 100% participation in online student, faculty and staff training programs (e.g. Everfi) related to sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.
+ Works with the Office of Student Life and other offices to implement the Green Dot bystander intervention program, the Men Can Stop Rape Program, and SPARC Anti-Stalking program and ensures that it is delivered annually to all students; is involved in the training of appropriate faculty and staff who wish to serve as Green Dot trainers to student leaders.
+ Collaborates with Utica University’s representative from the New York State Campus Sexual Assault Victim’s Unit (CSAVU) to educate key staff members on trauma-informed care as it relates to incidences of sexual violence, dating violence and intimate partner violence.
+ Builds strong working relationships with all internal and external partners and communicates with all CCR team members in between meetings as necessary.
+ Researches programming ideas and best practices, and oversees all of the grant project activities outlined in preceding bullets.
+ Continually monitors compliance with grant requirements and gathers and maintains project data, including records of student completion of all mandatory trainings.
+ Participate and engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs, including but not limited to serving on DEI committees, serving as a diversity advocate or community liaison for a job search, advising a club, facilitating DEI-related training, and engagement in institutional cultural and celebratory events and programming
+ Works closely with the Chief Grants Officer and the Office of Financial Affairs to ensure that all grant-associated requirements are met.
+ Work with community representatives from the Q Center and The Center to collaborate on campus programming focusing on the LGBTQ+ and Refugee Populations

This position does not require routine travel using a University-owned or University-rented vehicle.

Education & Experience Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. At least 1-3 years of experience working in an area related to sexual assault, dating violence and stalking preferred.
Minimum Skills/Abilities
The position requires excellent project management skills and the ability to stay on task. The Director position also requires strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to work collegially and collaboratively across a variety of offices and with several external partners, including the OVW. The person in this position will possess strong prioritization skills. The Director will also pay a great deal of attention to details, have the ability to meet strict deadlines, be adaptive and flexible, have the capacity to handle sensitive information, be able to garner support for new programs and initiatives, and exercise excellent independent judgement. Some travel may be required, especially as it relates to OVW-sponsored programs. The Director must be able to work evenings and weekends on occasion and drive to various locations as necessary.
