Position Summary Information
Position Summary
The Assistant Provost reports directly to the Senior Associate Provost and supports initiatives in the Division of Academic Affairs. The Assistant Provost is responsible for areas of student and faculty success and supports the Senior Associate Provost with compliance, accreditation, and assessment functions including, NYSED, Middle States, and specialized accreditors’ requirements, institutional effectiveness, academic and co-curricular assessment, and catalog accuracy and maintenance. This position requires the successful candidate to teach six contact hours per academic year.

Major Responsibilities
1. Act as the primary contact in Academic Affairs for student-related issues and concerns.
2. Collaborate with Academic Affairs Operation Manager to maintain the student complaint and academic appeal processes.
3. Review and render decisions on student complaints and academic appeals as appropriate.
4. Serve as the Provost’s representative on committees as assigned.
5. Coordinate assessment of General Education.
6. Assist with New York State Education Department’s regulations and filings.
7. Assist with accreditation processes at the institutional and program level.
8. Assist with the management of the undergraduate and graduate catalog process to ensure currency and accuracy of information in both documents.
9. Teach six contact hours per academic year.

Education & Experience Qualifications
+ Doctoral degree preferred. Master’s Degree required.
+ Prior experience in higher education required.
+ Experience with student concerns and complaints or academic appeals or governmental and/or accreditation reporting requirements preferred.
+ Experience in supervision of staff preferred.
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum Skills/Abilities
+ Excellent written communication skills.
+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
+ Ability to produce work that is accurate.
+ Interest in learning various aspects of academic higher education leadership.
