    Summary

    Responsible for developing, documenting, and overseeing the delivery of all required skill and technical training for applicable Protection, Automation and Control (PAC) employees, including apprentices, technicians, and contingent workforces.

    What You'll Do

    + **Supervise training programs** : Oversee PAC training programs to ensure employees are proficient in all phases of the industry, incorporating theoretical and On-the-Job training (OJT), related instruction and continuing education in a safe and cost-effective manner.

    + **Manage Apprenticeship Programs:** Manage and maintain PAC apprenticeship programs in collaboration with SRP Apprenticeship and Skill Training department. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards set by the Arizona Office of Apprenticeships. Implement the Enterprise Human Resources Policy established for Apprentices Sanctions for the Apprenticeship and Training Committee (ATC) and its relevant trade subcommittees (ATSCs).

    + **Assess Training Needs** : Work with PAC business departments to evaluate and address training needs of PAC technical employees.

    + **Attend Professional Development** : Participate in training programs, seminars, conferences, and meetings.

    + **Coordinate Training Programs:** Collaborate with internal and external groups to provide effective training for all PAC technical employees.

    + **Supervise Contractors/SMEs:** Oversee the use of contractors and subject matter experts in developing and/or delivering training materials.

    + **Collaborate with Departments:** Work with PAC business departments and Apprenticeship and Skills Training department to develop a comprehensive training approach, including continuing education for field and engineering personnel.

    + **Integrate Strategic Roadmap:** Incorporate the long-term strategic PAC vision and roadmap into training programs for PAC technical staff.

    + **Supervise PAC Apprentices:** Act as applicable PAC apprentice supervisor

    + **Develop Training Materials:** Create and present training materials to various PAC departments.

    + **Coordinate Committee Meetings:** Organize technical program apprenticeship committee meetings.

    + **Facilitate Initial Training:** Provide initial training for field contingent workforces supporting PAC.

    What It Takes To Succeed

    + Experience in creating and implementing training materials and programs.

    + Understanding of electrical and electronic theory principles.

    + Proficiency in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistical concepts.

    + Knowledge of personal computer operation and transient cyber assets.

    + Knowledge of electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor protection and control technology.

    + In-depth understanding of power system theory, PAC philosophies, processes, principles, standards and applications.

    + Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to PAC.

    + In-depth understanding of and commitment to electric utility policies and safety programs.

    + Understanding of electric utility PAC apprenticeship requirements.

    Experience

    A minimum of 4 years of job-related experience is required. Previous experience as a Senior Relay Technician, Lead Relay Technician, Senior Electronic Technician, Lead Electronic Technician, Senior Transmission Scheduler, Control Specialist or related position.

    Education

    Completion of a bachelor’s degree, apprenticeship or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment. Successful completion of an SRP PAC Apprenticeship is preferred.

     

    Hybrid Workplace

     

    SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
