    Peckham Inc. - Apparel Packager

    Important Details:

    + Wage: $12.48 per hour

    + Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday plus overtime as necessary

    + Full-Time

    + Location: 3080 S Linden St, Flint, MI 48507

    SUMMARY:

    The Apparel Packager is physically involved in the packing process. This position folds, labels, packs, seals, and loads packages; labels and marks containers; weighs and counts products and materials; inspects labels; and transports packages within the building.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

    + Work in various manufacturing cells, as directed by area coordinator or supervisor.

    + Check the garment’s labels, and inspect the garment for any obvious thread, or defect.

    + Fold the garment per instruction.

    + Attach hang tags to the garment.

    + Bag the garments and labels the bags.

    + Check, and verify size label, and hang tag, and the bag labels, and count the garments per instruction.

    + Set, and adjusting the scanning machine as instructed by supervisor.

    + Scans the bagged garments with the scanning machine.

    + Packs the garments in containers and labels the containers.

    + Fills out the packaging paperwork with accurate information, and numbers.

    + Notify appropriate supervisor or quality technician of any defects in manufacturing cell.

    + Assist with filling out the production boards, as directed by supervisor.

    + Responsible for reporting final production quantities to apparel supervisor.

    + Occasionally assist with cross-training objectives, as directed by supervisor.

    + Must maintained excellent attendance in previous position.

    + Assist in maintaining quality standards and ensuring broad understanding across manufacturing cell.

    + Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

    + Must practice LEAN principles and 5S concepts.

    + Will be required to move to work on other areas and steps as needed.

    + Participation in Peckham’s safety programs and ergonomic activities is required.

    + Other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    None required.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as pallet sheet and pallet identification form, labels, and label verification document. Ability to finish good log.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages and volume. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to carry out instructions provided.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and communicate effectively to others. The employee frequently is required to stand up and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. The employee required to use hand jack to move pallets around as needed.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.     COMMENTS

    Must have access to reliable transportation and background check is required. Cell phone is not allowed during performing duties. Peckham reserves the right to transfer team members from one task, one work area and/or one work location to another depending on the contract requirements and/or business needs.
