    Position Description:

    Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.

    Major/Essential Functions:

    + Provides leadership of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

    + Provides patient care in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology to newborns, children, and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings

    + Participates in the education of medical students and residents

    + Supervises advanced practice professionals in the clinical setting

    + Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship

    + Serves the academic community through participations in institutional governance such as committee work and other administrative duties

    + Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission

    + Adheres to institutional and departmental polices and procedures

    + Ensures compliance with HIPPAA and billing regulations

    + Demonstrate Professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred)

    + Experience in teaching students and residents in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

    + Experience with participation in clinical trials with the Children's Oncology Group (COG)

    + Emerging regional or national reputation for the rank of associate professor or higher

    + Board Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics

    Pay Statement:

    Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.

    Required Qualifications:

    + M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign medical degree equivalent

    + Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program

    + Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship program

    + Must have a Texas medical license or eligible for medical licensure in Texas

    + Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics
