    The role you’ll contribute:

    The Radiation Therapist administers targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection. Specific duties include: checking patient information; preparing room and equipment; patient and family communication; patient transport and transfer; performing radiation treatments; coordinating treatment and surgery schedules; monitoring patient vitals, maintaining department supplies; keeping records; and assisting with teaching.

    Provides quality patient care and maintains daily assigned duties:

    + Reviews and implements plan of care according to physician orders and prescriptions

    + Monitors daily patient health, symptoms, and radiation induced side effects and alerts appropriate staff when additional care/follow-up is needed.

    + Monitors patient vitals, performs dressing changes, and provides appropriate clinical care and education when necessary.

    + Checks patient information and prepares treatment room and equipment according to radiation treatment plan.

    + Constructs immobilization devices to provide optimal positioning for radiation treatments.

    Develops and maintains effective relationships by providing compassionate, helpful, and empathetic care:

    + Addresses, interacts, and provides timely and accurate information to patients and families in a respectful manner.

    + Educates and responds to patient requests with an explanation of intended action and follow through.

    + Elicits feedback from patients and families regarding satisfaction with care.

    Maintains a safe and caring physical environment that promotes quality patient care throughout the entire patient encounter:

    + Upholds practice standards required by The Joint Commission.

    + Performs and documents patient assessments and interventions according to department policies.

    + Maintains a safe and clean patient care environment.

    + Participates in quality assurance (QA) processes including daily QA procedures and energy outputs.

    Qualifications required:

    The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

    + High School Diploma or Equivalent

    + Up to 1 Year of Clinical Experience

    + Kansas LRT State License

    + American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

    + Basic Life Support

    Qualifications preferred:

    + Bachelor’s Degree

    + 5 Years of Position-Related Experience
