Who will you be working with?
As a System Engineer with you will work with Wabtec’s scientific community and railroad subject matter experts to develop freight automation solutions, evaluate them in field trials and productize the solutions to function in a railroad revenue environment. You will serve as a primary technical contact for the Train Performance & Automation (TP&A) product line working with customer needs and requirements, resolve specification issues, handle technical correspondence, provide periodic updates, ensure customer satisfaction, and negotiate / coordinate with cross-functional teams as appropriate.
How will you make a difference?
As a System Engineer you will be responsible for leading the design and requirements authoring of Train Performance & Automation (TP&A) products such as the Distributed Power™, Remote Control Locomotive(RCL), and Tower Operations products. Additionally, the successful candidate will work closely with Product Management, Program Management and railroad customers to develop world class solutions that bring advanced automation and data analytics to the rail industry.
What do we want to know about you?
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, from an accredited college or university.
+ Minimum of 4 years hands-on design, requirements development and implementation experience involving; Engineering Systems, Hardware / Software Engineering, and Controls Engineering.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment.
+ Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally. Candidates must be able to travel internationally with no restrictions.
+ Candidates must have a strong, proven background in MATLAB and Simulink for algorithm development and system simulation. Working knowledge of Python, C++ will be considered a plus.
What will your typical day look like?
+ Design, develop, and implement models in MATLAB for various engineering applications.
+ Create and maintain Simulink models to simulate and analyze control systems.
+ Develop and optimize control algorithms for system performance and stability.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems into larger projects.
+ Conduct system-level analysis and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
+ Create system requirements for Distributed Power products or Remote Control Locomotive products.
+ Revise and approve systems validation to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
+ Provide expertise in systems network and cybersecurity to enhance system robustness and security.
+ Lead and contribute to future concepts and design enhancements for the TP&A products using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
+ Serve as a primary technical contact for the TP&A product line. Translate customer needs / requirements, resolve specification issues, handle technical correspondence, provide periodic updates, ensure customer satisfaction, and negotiate / coordinate with cross-functional teams as appropriate.
+ Participate in the development of proposals for projects.
+ Lead and participate in technical and program reviews.
+ Maintain broad awareness of technical trends to ensure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work, and reviews and responsiveness to customer/program needs.
+ Work collaboratively with the Global Supply Chain Organization across the various locations to support procurement of parts from an engineering requirements perspective.
+ Provide technical input to customer facing documentation such as but not limited to operational manuals, installation instructions, troubleshooting guides, and product marketing material.
+ Mentor and guide junior engineers based on past experiences and provide input to engineering design guidelines and best practices.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between
$77,400.00-$110,300.00
The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com . Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
