Purpose:

Comtech Satellite Network Technologies is looking for a Senior Planner to join our purchasing department. The Senior Planner plans and prepares production schedules for the manufacturing of products.

Responsibilities:

+ Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.

+ Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.

+ Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.

+ Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.

+ Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.

+ Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

+ Coordinates all activities related to procurement of assigned commodities.

+ Answers all requests from Sales.

+ Prepares production reports.

+ May prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.

+ Reviews work in progress on the production floor.

+ Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, purchasing dept and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.

Skills:

+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as CAD drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Requirements:

+ APICS Certification desired.

+ MRP/ERP applications and functions.

+ Microsoft Suite

+ Excellent communication skills are required to perform this job successfully.

+ Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills are critical in this position.

Education and/or Experience:

+ 5-7 years Planning and Purchasing experience using MRP system preferred.

+ Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five to seven years related experience in an electronics manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
