Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aIndustrial Engineerto join the Logistics Distribution Center Teamin Fort Mill, SC. The Industrial Engineer will apply analytical methods, concepts and tools to understand and predict logistics operations and processes to achieve continuous improvement and contain costs. This includes the design and engineering of operational solutions in the areas of distribution management strategy and process management.
What Will You Do?
+ Using concepts associated with product slotting, develop and implement warehouse layout and logistics plans, including grouping products and product families to optimize pick productivity and minimize travel time, determining optimum sizing of pick face locations, work balancing to improve material flow and reduce congestion, load building to ensure placement of product that minimizes product damage during packing and good ergonomics to reduce risk of injury.
+ Over time, monitors changes in customer demand and product offerings and modifies slotting to ensure continued efficiency of warehouse layout.
+ Uses analytical methods and a variety of tools to understand, predict and/or improve logistics operations and processes.
+ Assists in the development of policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.
+ Using knowledge of industrial engineering techniques analyze warehouse processes identify improvement projects to optimize labor, space, accuracy and safety throughout the process.
+ Provides data analysis and root cause identification to prioritize the key logistics projects.
+ Monitors inventory and analyzes requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and fill rates.
+ Determines logistics and timing of shipments for efficiency improvements.
+ Assume leadership role to maximize use of appropriate features and configurations of warehouse management system.
+ Design and document specifications to modify and enhance system to support productivity, cost, quality and service objectives.
+ Coordinates activities relating to logistics technology for the company.
+ Responsible for data management, analyzing performance, identifying problems and developing recommendations to support logistics based upon data.
+ Manage major projects within the warehouse for capital investments including specifying equipment, updating processes, monitoring installation and training associates to ensure changes are seamless to our customers and achieve desired outcomes.
+ Occasionally oversees work of logistics support personnel.
+ All other duties as required or requested.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
+ Education:BA/BS in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent.
+ Experience:Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in warehouse, distribution center.
+ Certifications: Lean Six Sigma preferred.
Preferred Skills:
+ Experience with distribution center layout, design and implementation with demonstrated knowledge of product or inventory slotting/profiling to set up and maintain optimum warehouse layout and product location.
+ Knowledge of layout development, selection, specification and procurement of storage and material handling equipment.
+ Knowledge of lean methodology and kaizens.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
+ Strong computer skills, including spreadsheet software and database management. Extensive experience with warehouse management systems.
+ Good written and verbal communications skills.
Physical REQUIREMENTS:
+ Sit, walk, and stand.
+ Hear and speak to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
+ Possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools.
+ Lift, carry, push and/or pull items up to a maximum of 30 pounds.
+ Bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch.
