Our department is responsible for understanding the upcoming fuzing needs for both the NNSA and the Department of Defense to develop concepts and technologies that meet future needs. We engage sponsors of existing nuclear weapon fuzes to define, prototype, and test aspects of fuzing including radar, inertial subsystems, and the system controller, as well as the assured communication buses which exchange data within the weapon systems. Our capabilities include an understanding of nuclear weapon fuzes and their hardware and firmware subsystems including RFIC design, radar analysis, FPGA design, and RF hardware engineering.
