Job Description

This recourse will be joining the TIW Team to help with decommissioning objectives. The Informatica legacy database is on-prem and there is reverse engineering that needs to be done to disconnect the technologies that are going to be decommissioned.

Target: DB2 tables

As a Sr Data Engineer you will be considered a Technical Expert in one or more phases of Data Engineering. This includes providing design recommendations based on the long-term IT organization strategy and expertise regarding the integration of data with our consumers. You will determine specifications, plan, design and develop business critical data solutions, utilizing appropriate data engineering processes either individually or in concert with product team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o Designing Solutions

Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers

Ability to work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy

Member of team that can work independently, as well as collaboratively with team, in developing core data for the product that delivers outcomes.

Consistent and dependable in delivering core software that delivers outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc.

Learning and Applying New Techniques

Shares new ideas and techniques with team; Encourages junior engineers to invest in learning as a part of their job.

Collaborating within the Team

Participate in teams collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team

Participate in product planning and implementation. Helps team to understand and decompose work

Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns

Contribute to develop engineering practices, templates and frameworks in collaboration with the team.

o Dev Ops

Ensure that applications run efficiently and are optimized for performance

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide solutions

Participate in Code Reviews and ensure code quality

Debug and resolve technical issues

Continuously assessing technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software; Use data to measure progress

Strong experience in analyzing existing Informatica PowerCenter mappings, sessions, and workflows.

Ability to trace data flow from the source tables all the way to target tables and vice a versa

Design, develop and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines for structured and unstructured data

Understanding dependencies between different ETL processes and their impact

Experience with Informatica Metadata Manager, Enterprise Data Catalog or similar tools to track data lineage.

Ability to understand data mapping documents

Experience with Informatica session logs

Working knowledge of scheduling tools such as Zena or similar

Strong understanding of data modeling, fact/dimension tables

Experience in creating documentation for data lineage, data movement through various transformations.

Ability to analyze, modify, optimize existing ETL processes within PowerCenter

Skills and Requirements

7 + years of ETL development experience, with expertise in Informatica

o Experience utilizing PowerCenter Designer and Workflows

o Experience with Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) or similar tool

Experience doing reverse engineering with Informatica will

o Need to understand how to look at the target table and see how the data is flowing to the target

o Need to understand remapping and updating the existing workflows and adjustments to the logic

Strong SQL expertise

Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT facts, dimensions, logic

Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail

Sound knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices

Expert knowledge/experience with querying databases for complex data lookup/update Financial Services industry experience null
