What We Want
The Assistant Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning is responsible for the development and administration of sport specific speed, strength and conditioning programs for all varsity student-athletes (excluding football) to optimize individual and team performance. Advises head sport coaches in training strategy, conditioning and evaluates various components of fitness in the athletes. Assists athletic trainers in developing rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.

Will supervise 8 FT staff.
Travel Required. Nights, weekends and holidays as required to complete assigned duties.

Responsibilities
+ SUPERVISION: Organize the needs of the Strength and Conditioning staff and provide resources necessary to carry out appropriate training for all varsity teams (excluding football). Collaborate with Sports Science, Sports Psychology, Sports Medicine, Sports Nutrition, and Sport Coaches to create an optimal training environment for student-athletes. Delegate responsibilities and projects to appropriate staff members to empower individuals and provide professional development opportunities. Organize and direct weekly, monthly, and yearly staff meetings to lead and unify staff with the vision of the Strength and Conditioning Department. Formally and consistently evaluate individual members of the staff and provide constructive feedback to continue professional growth and development. Oversee development and implementation of professional internship program. Serve as an influential member of the Performance and Wellness team at the administrative level. Maintain constant and constructive communication with Executive level administrators as a credible representative of the staff and positive steward of the strength and conditioning profession as a whole.
+ COACHING : Provide instruction for the proper technique(s) to be used when training with machines and free-weights. Motivates athletes to achieve the necessary gains to be successful. Design integrated programs of weight training, running, flexibility, plyometrics, rehabilitation and reconditioning that will meet the needs of the individual student athlete. Organizes and implements the programs workouts in an efficient and safe manner, to ensure proper training effect for student-athletes. Design total conditioning programs for all varsity student-athletes (excluding football) (off season, pre-season and in session). Serve as the primary S&C coach for 1-2 teams.
+ BUDGET : Oversee the budget for Strength and Conditioning. Ensure that expenditures are within approved parameters. Ensure that University and Department policies are followed regarding receipt of revenue and purchases of goods and services.
+ RECRUITING : Assists team coaches for all sports (excluding football) in recruiting student-athletes by providing an interesting and enthusiastic explanation of the conditioning program. Makes available basic information to professional scouts that may assist in evaluation of players. Plan, develop, and monitor video presentations for recruiting, specific to each team and coach.
+ MEDIA & COLLABORATION : Gives an intelligent and professional appearance for the media that will provide favorable exposure to the program and to Texas A&M University. Maintains a good working relationship with other departments of the University; i.e. Health & Kinesiology.
+ TESTING/EVALUATION : Design and carry out testing programs to maximize evaluation for various teams and individual student-athletes for the components of fitness stressed in his/her sport. Provide equipment for staff to accurately test and evaluate objective metrics. Communicate information with Sport Coaches and staff which may aid in overall evaluation of student- athlete performance. Research and promote discussion of optimal testing and evaluation principles.
+ EDUCATION/MENTORING : Keeps informed of current research and trends in all areas of athletic performance and strives to constantly evaluate and update all training programs. Manage and oversee continuing education program for staff and interns. Build a library of research and professional development resources for staff and interns.
+ COMPLIANCE : Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations concerning student-athletes: conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality and other areas as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Four years' experience in athletics administration, strength & conditioning, or coaching.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
+ CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) or SCCC (Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified) /MSCC (Master Strength & Conditioning Coach).
+ CPR/AED + First Aid certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree.
+ 7 or more years of experience in athletics administration, strength & conditioning, or coaching.
+ USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ General knowledge of NCAA rules.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
