Description We are looking for a dedicated Associate Attorney to join our team in Walnut Creek, California. In this role, you will manage various aspects of medical malpractice litigation, excluding trial and arbitration presentations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of legal and medical concepts, along with the ability to craft effective case strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with trial and arbitration attorneys to develop comprehensive discovery and investigation strategies.

• Coordinate with claims specialists to ensure defense preparation aligns with cost-effective practices.

• Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents to support case progress.

• Prepare and respond to discovery requests while adhering to legal timelines and protocols.

• Represent physicians during depositions for "Depo-only" cases and prepare them for court appearances.

• Provide timely and thorough litigation reports to claims specialists at all case stages.

• Attend court appearances and actively contribute to trial or arbitration preparation.

• Respond to legal inquiries from the Claims Department through the designated hotline.

• Ensure compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines and other applicable legal standards.

• Perform additional duties as required to support the litigation process. Requirements • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active license to practice law in the state of California.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.

• Familiarity with trial and arbitration procedures, including second-chair trial support.

• Proficiency with legal software such as LexisNexis, case management systems, and other relevant tools.

• Strong knowledge of medical issues and their relevance to legal cases.

• Exceptional skills in drafting, briefing, and civil litigation.

• Ability to handle claim administration and documentation tasks efficiently.
