Job Title: Food Safety Chemist

Type: Contract

Overview

Leading food manufacturing company looking for an experienced Food Safety Chemist. Ideal candidates should have a BS degree in Chemistry, Forensics, or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience.

Responsibilities:

+ Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all analytical equipment including GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, LC/QTOF, and ICP/MS. Troubleshoot analytical methods, both procedural and instrumental. Complying with ISO accreditation. (30%)

+ Identify and quantify components of interest and unknowns with both accuracy and precision. (20%)

+ Participate in analytical proficiency programs and investigate any corrective actions. Complying with ISO accreditation. (15%)

+ Keep current with new and developing technologies. Design and validate additional analytical procedures. (15%)

+ Validate and maintain multi-level standard reference solutions. (10%)

+ Ensure compliance with all internal plant, corporate, local, state, and federal regulatory standards (10%)

Requirements

+ BS degree in Chemistry, Forensic, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience

+ Knowledge of standard multiresidue pesticide methodology, heavy metals testing, allergen testing by ELISA, Acrylamide and Capsaicin.

+ Proficient in GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, LC/QTOF, and ICP/MS.

+ Ability to proactively identify and address concerns or issues that may affect or improve Food Safety, Product Quality, Key Stakeholder and Customer Expectations.

+ A detail oriented, team player with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

+ A customer focused decision maker, multitasking with good judgement, competent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, Works with complex instrumentation and data collection tools.

+ Demonstrates excellent work ethics and behaviors with a strong sense of ownership and passion for end results.

+ Project management ability, including ability to take on key projects, i.e., LIMS (Labware), PT program, plant lab assessments and A2LA ISO accreditation.

+ Ability to take on supervisory responsibilities including, scheduling and reviewing daily work or laboratory technicians, keeping regard to priority samples and scheduled turnaround times.
