The Radiation Safety team at Eli Lilly & Company is looking for a strong candidate to support our Broad Scope (non-medical) licensed activities, working alongside other Radiation Safety professionals serving the broader Lilly organization.

Position Description:
+ Support various aspects of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Broad Scope (non-medical) licensed activities in Indianapolis to ensure the safe and compliant use of material from receipt through disposal
+ Activities may include, but are not limited to:
+ Own package receipt and radiation instrumentation programs
+ Conduct prompt check-in procedures in accordance with NRC/DOT regulations
+ Perform calibrations of various radiation equipment (e.g., survey meters, thyroid bioassay system)
+ Perform laboratory and equipment contamination surveys using various survey instrumentation and techniques (e.g., GM meter, wipe surveys)
+ Manage radioactive counting instrumentation (e.g., liquid scintillation counters, gamma counters, plate readers)
+ Provide radiation safety training to those working with or around sources of radiation/radioactive materials
+ Assist with radioactive waste management and processing activities, as needed
+ Support the non-ionizing radiation safety programs (e.g., high class lasers, NMR, UV)
+ Engage and influence at various levels across the business areas to drive safety and compliance
+ Partner with radiation safety team for shared findings, policy and procedural changes, and other business needs
+ Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in health physics (strongly preferred) or related degree plus minimum one (1) year of practical radiation safety experience (research/pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred)
Additional Preferences:
+ Five (5) or more years of health physics related experience
+ One (1) year in an academic/pharmaceutical environment
+ Training and/or practical experience supporting non-ionizing radiation safety programs (e.g., lasers, ultraviolet light sources, magnetic fields)
+ Experience in HP Assistant (On Site Systems, Inc.)
+ Solid understanding of the operating principles, application, and limitations of radiation counting equipment (e.g., GM & NaI survey meters, liquid scintillation counters, gamma counters, single- and multi-channel analyzers)
+ Detailed knowledge and experience in regulations, regulatory guidance, and inspection activities pertaining to the use of radioactive materials (e.g., US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, DOT/IATA)
+ Excellent critical thinking skills and a strong attention to detail
+ Proven ability to customize radiation safety communication based on target audience
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Teams)
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$63,000 - $162,800
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
