Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

Join our team as a General Laborer, where you will initially focus on the cleaning and sanitation of a flour mill. You will eventually receive cross-training in packing, milling, and other areas, providing you with the opportunity to expand your skill set and advance within the company.

SHIFT: 7a-3:30p (first 30-60 days, then move to rotating 12-hr shifts)

Responsibilities

+ Perform general cleaning and sanitation tasks to maintain safety standards in the flour mill.

+ Sweep up flour dust and keep the plant clean.

+ Conduct blowdown and clean dust off equipment, ensuring proper lock out/tag out procedures when cleaning inside equipment.

+ After the initial 30-60 days of cleaning, transition to roles in the warehouse or mill depending on needs and interest.

+ Adapt to a rotating schedule post-training.

Essential Skills

+ Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.

+ Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.

+ Comfortable using computers for data entry.

+ Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

+ Strong math aptitude for counting, reading, and writing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Interest in learning trades such as milling.

+ Enjoyment of baking, cooking, and related activities.

+ Experience with forklift operation and materials handling.

+ **Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts.**

Work Environment

Work in a Fortune 50 food company's flour mill, where flour is milled from wheat for retail grocery stores. Follow safe food handling practices, including wearing a hair net or beard net, hardhat, and steel-toe boots. The facility is large, old, and run-down in appearance, with 13 floors. Expect a dusty environment with loud machines and temperatures that may reach 115 degrees in the summer. Floors can be slippery from flour, requiring daily stair navigation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spokane, Washington.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.83 - $18.83/hr.
