Job Description

The Histotechnician III will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in a state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. This role operates during the night shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Under the guidance of a Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high-quality diagnostic material within established turnaround times.

Responsibilities

+ Cut, stain, and perform tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.

+ Perform accurate gross description on tissue samples.

+ Execute quality control procedures established for each method and maintain accurate records.

+ Operate all instruments and equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognize and identify instrument/equipment problems.

+ Meet acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.

+ Recognize testing errors, discrepancies, or problems and notify appropriate personnel; assist in problem resolution.

+ Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.

+ Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.

+ Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.

+ Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turnaround time guidelines.

Essential Skills

+ Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.

+ Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours).

+ Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.

+ At least 6 months of experience as a Histotechnician

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ ASCP certification preferred but not required

+ Proficiency with laboratory equipment and lab testing.

Work Environment

The position is based in a CAP-certified pathology laboratory equipped with modern technologies. You will work the night shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
