    **Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD)** has an immediate opening for a **Electrical Engineer (I - V)** located at **Cooper Nuclear Station** in **Brownville** , Nebraska. Position closes June 15, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time or until filled.

    Position Summary

    Provide technical expertise for BOP (Balance of Plant) system evaluation, performance trending, system health reporting, troubleshooting, and overall safe and reliable operation of assigned systems.

     

    This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency.

     

    Note: Level I to Level V Engineer and Engineering Specialists are considered a progression and is approved by the appropriate manager. Engineering positions are managed under the NPPD Nuclear Engineering Career Path document.

     

    Education, Training and Experience

     

    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET Accredited).

     

    Good communication skills

     

    PC knowledge

     

    Entry into the Nuclear Engineering Support Program (ESP)

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

     

    Be recognized as the system expert by maintaining knowledge of assigned system, system status, and its associated Design and Licensing Bases.

     

    Verify the Design Bases of the system is being preserved/maintained by reviewing and/or observing surveillance tests and their results, field work and post-maintenance testing, and modification activities.

     

    Monitor and trend system performance to maintain and improve system availability, reliability, and operational performance. Investigate deteriorating system performance to identify cause for declining trends.

     

    Perform routine, periodic walkdowns of the system to maintain current awareness of system condition, configuration, and performance.

     

    Identify and set priorities for system maintenance and modifications.

     

    Develop and maintain a long-range plan for each system and develop comprehensive plans to facilitate completion of complex system improvements. This includes generation of appropriate paperwork to request funding and resources for planning purposes.

     

    Work with system designees from Operations and Maintenance to understand the needs of craft personnel and Station Operators in maintaining system reliability. This should result in regular meetings with Operations and Maintenance personnel.

     

    Review system maintenance effectiveness, system unavailability, and Maintenance Preventable Functional Failures (MPFFs), and provide direction and input for needed improvements through the Maintenance Rule Program to meet CNS goals and industry performance.

     

    Assist operations in determining system and component operability by providing technical basis for Operability Evaluations (OEs).

     

    Review and initiate corrective action based upon information from internal investigations and industry sources (SOERs, INs, SILs, TILs, SENs, O&MRs, etc.).

     

    Provide technical assistance to Licensing for formal responses to the USNRC and formal notifications (bulletins, notices, etc.).

    **Salary Information** _-_ Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

     

    Engineer I - Exempt pay grade 12: $6,638 - $9,433 Monthly

     

    Engineer II - Exempt pay grade 13: $7,445 - $10,579 Monthly

     

    Engineer III - Exempt pay grade 14: $8,466 - $12,367 Monthly

     

    Engineer IV - Exempt pay grade 15: $9,715 - $14,190 Monthly

    Engineer V - Exempt pay grade 16: $11,145 - $16,280 Monthly

    **Travel Required:** Up to 25% (With frequent overnight stays, more than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) _Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview._

    Retirement Savings

     

    NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
