    OVERVIEW

    The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applicants for a one-year, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Technical and Professional Writing to begin in the fall of 2025 (preferred August 1 start date). We seek candidates who can teach a wide range of professional and technical writing courses, including writing in business, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines, and in health contexts. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in teaching writing and critical reading courses. This is a one-year position (AY 2025-26).

     

    About the English Department

     

    All full-time members of the English Department teach six courses per year, two-thirds of which are non-major courses in writing and critical reading; maintain active professional engagement as reflected in a scholarly publication record; advise undergraduate students; and contribute to service to the department, university, and/or greater community. Applicants must have a proven record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and must demonstrate a commitment to an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive learning environment.     Salary & Benefits

     

    The University of St. Thomas offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits program, which includes:

    Salary range: $65,000 - $73,000

     

    The University of St. Thomas has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + A Ph.D. (U.S. or Foreign Equivalent) in Professional Writing or a related field, or alternatively, ABD candidates nearing completion will also be considered

    + A strong enthusiasm for teaching undergraduate students, including both majors and non-majors
