    Salary Range: $54,210 to $80,000

     

    The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The CNC Operations Manager oversees CNC fabrication and instruction operations in the St. Thomas Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The CNC Operations Manager is responsible for instructing students in the safe operation of CNC equipment ensuring compliance with safety procedures. This position assists in the development of CNC training curriculum development and identifies areas for continuous improvement. The CNC Operations Manager provides supervision and broad fabrication support within the machine shop.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Oversee CNC machining equipment and operations, ensuring safe and appropriate work practices, consumable items and materials are stocked, and machines are kept in top functioning order

    + Support fabrication and prototyping efforts for School of Engineering activities through programming and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mills and providing design and fabrication guidance

    + Provide instruction in safe operation of manual and CNC equipment and participate in CNC training curriculum development and continuous improvement

    + Supervise student work in machine shop and provide guidance in fabrication methods and machine setup and operation

    + Ensure compliance with safety procedures, acting as a resource for safe lab practices

    + Provide a high level of customer service when interacting with students, faculty, and staff

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelors level degree in industrial technology, or journeyman machinist, tool and die maker, or an Associate’s

     

    degree in a technical field

     

    + Three years of practical technical or lab experience programming and using CNC machines

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Educational experience

    + Five years of experience machining with 3-axis and 5-axis mills, part fabrication

    + Knowledge of safe work practices in industrial environments

     

    An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.
