Staff Software Engineer, Cloudnet Staging

Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 8 years of experience in software development.
+ 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
+ 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
+ Experience coding in C++ or Python, and working with build infrastructure, automation, and cloud networking.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
+ 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
+ 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
+ Experience with GCP stack.
+ Experience with AI/ML infrastructure (staging extended to support AI/ML tooling, or training models to duplicate bugs).

The Cloud Networking Platforms Group is dedicated to building essential horizontal, velocity, and reliability platforms across Networking and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to meet critical business needs. Our work accelerates feature delivery to customers, ensures reliable and compliant infrastructure, and supports large-scale end-to-end qualification.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will guide a high-impact team focused on improving developer velocity and staging environment reliability within Cloud Networking. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and developer experience, offering a unique opportunity to directly influence the speed and confidence with which GCP networking services operate. You will be passionate about creating impactful tooling for engineers and are driven to solve operational challenges at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on enhancing developer productivity and supporting internal release tools and staging environments.
+ Own the design, development, and maintenance of systems aimed at improving the speed and reliability of build, test, and deploy processes for cloud networking services.
+ Partner with Site Reliability Engineers, developers, and product leads to identify and systematically eliminate bottlenecks within staging and release workflows.
+ Drive the outlook and strategic roadmap for internal tooling and environment support, with a focus on automation and scalability.
+ Be a direct contributor by writing high-quality code, reviewing code changes, and establishing engineering best practices, while proactively improving system observability, stability, and resilience.
