THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of preventive maintenance and repair tasks on hand tools, as well as a fleet of construction equipment and trucks powered by both gasoline and diesel engines, featuring manual and automatic transmissions. Your expertise will be essential in performing skilled maintenance and repairs on various vehicles, including cars, trucks, tractors, and an assortment of construction machinery such as rollers, sweepers, and mixers. While you will handle most repairs on diesel equipment, you will not be involved in diagnostics, parts rebuilding, or repairs related to the air brake system and diesel engine fuel injection system. You will implement a preventive maintenance program for vehicles, equipment, and parts, which includes conducting oil changes, automotive diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and repairs or replacements of engine sub-assemblies, cooling systems, suspension, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, fuel systems, brakes, steering, and driveline systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment

+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

+ Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.

+ Travel, overtime and shift work may be required.

+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

+ Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,766 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or

+ Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

+ This position requires employees to hold a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.

+ This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1 Certified Inspection Mechanic.
