    The Opportunity

     

    The College of Journalism and Communications (CJC) at the University of Florida seeks to hirean Assistant-In/Associate-Infaculty position within theInnovation News Center (INC) (https://www.jou.ufl.edu/home/main-immersion/inc/) (12-month, non-tenure track)to begin in the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 term. We are particularly interested in candidates who understand audio journalism and have experience with Spanish language news on audio, video and digital platforms. We invite applicants who have prior teaching experience (preferred), in addition to candidates who have experience or potential to assist with scholastic journalism opportunities.

     

    Candidates should hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in journalism, media, communication or a related field. Candidates will have the opportunity to teach both undergraduate and graduate classes, and we would especially welcome applicants with the ability to teach multiple courses in the program, including the ability to develop new courses.

     

    The selected candidate will teach up to the equivalent of two three-credit-hour courses per semester, mentor and advise undergraduate students as assigned, manage student content creation with the INC, participate inscholarly and professional organizations, advise/produce/anchor Spanish language audio and video newscasts created within the INC, create/advise digital content multiplatform collaboration with fellow INC managers, participate in shared governance and perform other duties as assigned.

    Expected Salary:

    $56,250.00 Annually

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in Spanish language journalism

    Preferred:

    + Master’s degree in Journalism, Media, Communication(s), or related fields.

    + Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish languages

    + Demonstrated ability or desire to work in a teaching hospital newsroom

    + Capability to engage and mentor students in audio journalism best practices and techniques

    + Ability to anchor and produce video and audio newscasts within the INC as needed.

    + Capacity to teach courses in Spanish language journalism or multimedia journalism.

    + Experience engaging in scholastic journalism.

    + Commitment to institution-building and collaborative initiatives at the college and university level.
