SALARY RANGE
$36,036.00 - $41,900.60 Annually $1,386.00 - $1,611.56 Bi-weekly
Position Summary
Plan, develop and implement programs for the developmentally disabled adults living at Sunland in the areas that include, but are not limited, to Rehabilitation Therapy, Recreation, Leisure Services, Wellness Programs, Special Olympics, Life Skills and Chapel Services. These programs should also be designed to assist individuals living at Sunland in accomplishing their goals and objectives as identified in their annual Service Plan. Periodically evaluate these programs and make any needed recommendations to enhance their effectiveness.
The Work You Will Do
Plan, develop and implement a written monthly schedule of Rehabilitation Therapy and Recreational programs/ activities, with emphasis being on programs/activities that occur during the afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. Disseminate this schedule to all areas of Sunland to ensure maximum participation by individuals living at Sunland. Ensure proper staffing to adequately supervise all afternoon, evening and weekend activities.
Plan, develop and oversee off campus trips for individuals living at Sunland to assist in their development of life skills and
community integration skills. These trips will include preparing required paperwork for approval to participate as well as
follow up documentation regarding the resident’s progress and/or lack of progress related to life skills and community
integration skills. These off-center events may include but not be limited to, sporting events, movies, going out to eat,
shopping trips, church services, parades, festivals, carnivals, arts & crafts events, etc.
Supervise the Therapy Aide II positions by providing clearly defined job expectations, collecting data in relations to those expectations and evaluating the employees on their performance of those expectations. Make any needed recommendations for employee recognition as well as any needs for improvement and/or disciplinary action.
Provide training on an as needed basis to Sunland staff and individuals living at Sunland in regard to Rehabilitation Therapy and Recreational programs. In addition, attend any training as required by Sunland and/or the State of Florida
Supervise the Therapy Aide II positions ensuring bi-weekly time sheets are entered on a timely and accurate fashion.
Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Preferred: At least two years of experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
+ Preferred: At least two years of experience planning, coordinating, and implementing recreational activities.
+ Preferred: Experience with the Special Olympics of Florida.
+ Preferred: At least one year of supervisory experience over employees.

+ Knowledge of problem-solving techniques.
+ Ability to supervise people.
+ Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
+ Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
+ Ability to develop and coordinate resident activities.
+ Ability to develop and review administrative policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the implementation of treatment program.
+ Ability to communicate effectively.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Direct Deposit Program
As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.
Background Screening Requirement
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
