Truck Driver/Warehouse Associate

DESCRIPTION
In accordance with corporate policies and procedures, as a member of the Branch Distribution Center Team, deliver merchandise to customer activities in the local geographical area. This includes monitoring vehicle conditions and performance, loading, securing, driving, offloading, obtaining receipt signatures, picking up customer paperwork, and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle. Deliveries are made by all classes of commercial vehicles from tractor-trailers to small vans. As workload requires, perform receiving, storage, order picking, packaging, strapping, shipping, document processing, physical inventory and warehouse maintenance functions in support of customer orders. Use materials handling equipment on a full-time basis. Must possess a CDL Class A license.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Inspect vehicle to be used before each trip to ensure all features are in proper working order and the truck is safe to operate. Make minor repairs and replace damaged or missing minor components from supplies available.
+ Review delivery schedule with Distribution Center Manager. Complete trip sheet and gather all shipping documents. Plan trip route to minimize driving time while ensuring vehicle safety.
+ Load and secure merchandise in truck or trailer. Verify that quantities and condition of merchandise agrees with that reported on shipping document.
+ Deliver shipment on-time at designated customer location. Notify authorized customer representative to arrange for offload and receipt of the merchandise. Move material to tailgate of truck. Obtain receipt signatures for merchandise delivered. Return receipt documents to the Distribution Center.
+ Report location via cellular phone when arriving at and departing delivery points. Keep Distribution Center Manager informed of any major delays or customer issue that may require assistance.
+ Assist with the Receiving Associate in receiving material into the Distribution Center. Follow Branch receiving procedures in checking for correct amount, condition and packaging of the product. Place incoming material on pallets and distribute to its proper destination.
+ May assist with pull orders shown on shipping documents from stock locations and place properly on pallets for delivery. Maintain highest degree of accuracy in the picking process and double check correct items are issued.
+ May assist with pack, package, label and load outgoing shipments.
+ Assist in taking and reconciling warehouse inventories.
+ Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles. Sweep, clean, pick up and dispose of trash in the Distribution Center, associate parking areas and adjacent grounds.
+ Operate material handling equipment in a safe manner in accordance with established corporate policy.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education and Work Experience:
+ High School diploma or equivalent in industry name required.
+ Certification/License: (CDL Class A) Forklift Certification
+ 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
+ Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
+ Ability to meet criteria required to obtain DOD Contractor Badge.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license.
+ This position requires that you drive on behalf of Acosta Sales & Marketing.
