Job Description / Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the transportation department by using established guidelines and systems to achieve goals as established by department management.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

**•** Reviews purchase orders that are “ready-to-ship” using our OTM (Oracle Transportation Management) system.

**•** Assigns freight carriers based on shipment details of size, weight, destination, requested delivery date and cost.

**•** Communicates with Buyers and Sales Associates to update and correct purchase order data.

**•** Maintains communication with vendors and freight carriers regarding shipments of purchase orders.

**•** Monitors and report deficiencies from freight carriers as needed.

**•** Researches freight consolidation opportunities to increase savings using OTM.

**•** Supports the field for tracking information as needed.

**•** Performs additional functions as needed to support the freight team.

Nature and Scope

+ Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

+ Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

+ None.

Work Environment

+ Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

+ Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

+ Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

+ 2+ years of experience in logistics, rating and routing truckload, and LTL freight.

+ Experience using a TMS. Oracle TMS is nice to have.

+ Proficient using Outlook for email and calendar.

This is a hybrid position based in our Field Support Center in Doraville, GA.
