South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Staff Accountant at our Lancaster office.

Responsibilities include performing general accounting tasks and assisting with keeping all accounting records in accordance with the RUS Uniform System of Accounts. This individual will ensure that our financial processes run smoothly and efficiently, participate in the annual budgeting process and be responsible for various accounting tasks, from closing monthly financial statements to supporting internal audits, preparing compliance filings, maintaining records and preparing reporting package for the Board of Directors and management as well as working collaboratively across departments.

The successful candidate will develop strong relationships, is highly self-motivated and detail oriented, proficient in accounting practices and procedures and an advanced user in Microsoft Office suite specifically Excel. Candidates must also be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner as well as be experienced working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

This position will report to the Accounting Manager and work out of the Lancaster, Ohio office.

Qualifications

+ A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Candidate working toward CPA licensure preferred.

+ Applicants should have prior experience, whether through internships, coursework, projects, volunteer work, or extracurricular activities.

+ Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize multiple systems/products fluently.
