Position Summary:

Apto Solutions is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Asset Inventory & Data Security Technician to join our NetWipe team in San Leandro, CA. This hybrid role requires a proactive individual capable of traveling regularly, potentially 2-3 times per month for short on-site visits to client locations (typically 2-5 days per trip), to meticulously perform inventory of IT assets and securely wipe hard drives. When not traveling, the technician will be based in our San Leandro office, contributing to our in-house NetWipe operations by testing desktops and laptops and performing secure data erasure. This position demands strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently both on the road and in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

+ On-site Asset Inventory and Data Wiping (Regular Monthly Travel):

+ Travel to client sites regularly, potentially 2-3 times per month (typically 2-5 days per trip).

+ Accurately identify, document, and perform inventory of various IT assets, including desktops, laptops, servers, and other hardware.

+ Perform secure data wiping of hard drives using established procedures and software, ensuring data sanitization compliance.

+ Maintain detailed records of all assets inventoried and drives wiped, adhering to company and client protocols.

+ Communicate effectively and professionally with client contacts during on-site visits.

+ Adhere to all safety regulations and client site requirements.

+ In-house NetWipe Operations:

+ Receive, inspect, and triage incoming desktops and laptops.

+ Perform functional testing of hardware components.

+ Execute secure data wiping procedures on hard drives using designated software and methods.

+ Document testing procedures and results accurately.

+ Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

+ Collaborate with other NetWipe team members to meet production goals.

+ Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues related to the wiping process.

Qualifications:

+ High school diploma or equivalent required.

+ 3-5 years of experience in IT asset management and/or data destruction.

+ 1-3 years of experience traveling to client sites is desired.

+ Proven experience with data wiping software and methodologies.

+ Strong understanding of computer hardware and software.

+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

+ Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, both on-site and in the office.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients.

+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

+ Ability to travel regularly, potentially 2-3 times per month (typically 2-5 days per trip).
