Summary

National Power has an immediate need for a dependable, detail-oriented Electrician to join our team in the Detroit, MI area and work in other states as necessary. Under the general direction of and reporting to the Electrical Field Manager, the Electrician will primarily be responsible for performing lead electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment for National Power customers.

The successful candidate will have the ability to independently assess the needs of a job based on schematics or blueprints but may also carry out assignments based on written and oral instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

+ Install, repair, and service electrical systems.

+ Source or fabricate replacement electrical components.

+ Interpret blueprints and carry out work accordingly, with knowledge of the NEC.

+ Guide and oversee other electricians as necessary.

+ Obtain required equipment, tools, and materials for projects.

+ Test and troubleshoot electrical systems.

+ Provide assistance during emergencies.

+ Update project records and prepare relevant documents and reports.

Education/Experience/Skills:

+ High School Diploma / GED; Associate degree in an Electrical or related field preferred.

+ Minimum of 6 years in commercial electrical work (experience in the telecommunications industry is a plus).

+ Journeyman Electrician License is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

+ Competitive pay depending on previous experience and current certifications. Overtime is also a factor and is paid at 1.5 X base. We are a performance based company and pay will ultimately reflect the employee’s productivity and overall performance.

Work Conditions

+ The technician may be required to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, snow, high humidity, etc.)

+ Frequently work near moving mechanical parts

Physical Demands:

+ Lifting and carrying heavy objects, up to 75lbs, will be required

+ Ascending or descending ladders, scaffolding, stairs, ramps and the like using feet/legs and/or hands/arms

+ Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s)

+ Pushing/pulling may involve use of hands/arms, feet/legs, and/or feet only done with one side of the body or both sides

+ Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet to enter restricted spaces

+ Occasionally, using one or both feet or legs to move controls on machinery or equipment

+ Clarity of vision and color vision are both required (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers

+ Sitting/Driving for long periods is frequently required

+ This is a remote position and will require the employee to work away from home
